1.   RETREATS 2006

Visions & Legacies

Do you appear successful to the outside world? But still somehow feel 'held back’?

Are you interested in personal self-development?

Would you like to expand your awareness and access the 'big picture' of your life?

C.E.O.’s and Senior Directors who achieve success know first-hand about the personal and business benefits of organisational visioning and goal setting. Many, too, are ready to go beyond the limitations of standard 5-year thinking and dream even bigger dreams. Getting in touch with a more expansive vision, and creating an even richer personal legacy, revitalises and restores energy to the individual and the business. Yet opportunities together with the practical tools and processes - to transcend ordinary visioning and re-orient to your deeper life’s purpose and meaning are rare

In May 2006 you have just that opportunity, I am facilitating a further ‘Visions and Legacies’ Retreat in the inspirational and exclusive surroundings of Alladale, in the Scottish Highlands (www.alladale.com). Why did I choose Alladale in Scotland? One of the things I like most about this Venue is that it's not a Hotel as such but a Lodge where we have it all, exclusive to ourselves, complete with staff and about 60 square miles of Scottish Wilderness. Think about it! (and no gardening!)

Date: 8th – 11th May 2006

Participants: Numbers are limited to a maximum of 8, thus ensuring true depth of experience for all.

My unique experience will give you the opportunity to learn with a small group of like-minded peers. I will be working ‘live’ with you, to help you discover your fullest potential and your ultimate legacy to the world. You will also learn what you need to implement and how to move forward with your legacy immediately.

Expect to leave this retreat ready to take your life’s work forward with renewed vision, clarity of purpose and defined plans for practical action.

As one CEO said of my last ‘Visions and Legacies’ Retreat:

“What a terrific experience the retreat was! Jessica skillfully demonstrated just how magnificent human beings are… This retreat proved once again what fantastic learning and insight there is in quality time together and highlighted the imagination, fire and power within each of us.”

If you want to experience the power of my processes – developed from over 20 years of practical experience in facilitating rapid growth – for yourself or for a key player in your top team, then prepare yourself for an unforgettable experience!

TESTIMONIAL.

Peter Pritchett is one of the group chairmen for The Academy For Chief Executives. He sent me this note recently to let me know how some of his members have changed their lives.

Thanks for the work that you have facilitated with several of my groups now. They are always powerful and transformational days, but I thought that you might like to hear of some of the specific changes that your work has brought about.

The moving session that you did with “L”; it was the beginning of quite a period of change for both her and her business. From your session she really gained self-confidence and belief about the way forwards for herself, her family and her business. She has gone on to change her own role within the business (more leadership and direction, less involvement in the detail), and the enhanced leadership team that she has developed has brought new energy and direction to the sales and operations aspects of the business.

You will remember the Retreat that you facilitated for my groups of C.E.O.’s. We went to a much deeper level than just sharing of goals and working on action plans and SMART objectives: the members were really able to grasp the unique “essence” that they bring to their businesses – and to see how tackling some of their own issues would unlock enhanced business success. “P” in particular found this very useful: he is still working on some of the personal challenges that he identified within himself as a result of his time at that Retreat. The way that he motivates, communicates and interacts with others is still evolving, but I understand that he is a much more effective leader to work with, and that his relationships with his peers have broadened and deepened. As for “C”, what can I say? He went on to sell his share in the business and start a new life in Cornwall – he followed his dream!

Thank you.

Peter

3. What can happen when you‘CHANGE YOUR GROUNDHOG DAY.’ (self-limiting belief)

A CASE HISTORY.

A Sales manager in an international organization, in his mid thirties, had a very successful climb up the professional ladder. However he had a 'wake up' call when he realised he had been 'promoted' sideways instead of upwards for the first time.

He realised it must have something to do with his beliefs, behaviour and attitudes and that if he didn't deal with it now his career would move downwards from now on.

During our session he discovered that his underlying belief was that he had to be 'one of the boys' to remain popular. (this had been established a long time ago in his life)

As is usually the case, this very quality and belief made him very successful in his career but reached a point where it was no longer appropriate and was acting as a brake.

He got to the point where he couldn't remain 'one of the boys' AND be top level management.

Through our work he came to REALISE that to understand emotionally rather than intellectually automatically changed his self-limiting belief. What had served him until now was no longer appropriate.

A behaviour becomes like a soldier who's still on duty 20 years after the war has ended. It doesn't mean that the soldier should never have been there but it becomes out of context when the war is over.

The outcome?

18 months later I received a contact from his PA giving me his new details and location as PRESIDENT of that same organisation.

FACT: Knowledge is knowledge but...KNOWLEDGE PLUS EMOTION = WISDOM.

6. FEEDBACK:-  How not to do it - a true story!

My friend Astrid and I joined a 'street dance' class at our local WI hall which is facilitated by a very talented, professional and patient young woman of a very warm and friendly disposition.

One of the highlights is that her mother is often there and joins in with the direction and encouragement with comments such as, "Well done girls'! Nearly there, much better that time, it's easy, do it like this (as she moves her feet whilst sitting on her chair)

At the end of the first session where, I must say, we'd danced like a pair of old duffers, her mum came over and asked, "well done girls, did you enjoy it? Are you coming back next week?” I said we'd love to so long as her daughter could stand it and had the patience, to which mum replied, "Yeah, of course she can, don't worry about it, E... (one of the other girls). was really crap a few weeks ago too”! Hmmmmmm…!

6a.  Keep that New Year resolution!

My colleague Marrisa Peer (the psychologist on Celebrity fit club, amongst many other things) is developing a special ten step ‘Weight Control Program’ and if you would like to take part in this pilot seminar for a couple of hours on June 21st, contact me and I'll gladly pass on your details.

Similarly, if you are developing a special event and would like me to include it in future newsletters for volunteers do let me know or post it on my website by joining the FREE network forum. www.jessicarichards.co.uk and click on network forum.

6b.  Oh YES, ‘CHAPERONING 15 YEAR OLDS'. Lilly Savage – who me? ? ? ?

My friend Brenda called me as she had arranged to take her daughter and friend to a show in London as part of her daughters Christmas present.

Unfortunately Brenda was very unwell and asked if I could take them as the tickets were only valid for that evening.

"Yes" I heard myself saying whilst NO was screaming out from deep within me! Anyway, I thought I'd get into the spirit and booked a trendy restaurant knowing that fifteen year old girls on a trip to London would need to show off their 'too cool to get dressed up but hours getting ready outfits!

Needless to say it was bitterly cold and one of the girls who insisted she "doesn't feel the cold" wore only a little dress and thin jacket with no coat.

She tried not to shiver and as we got to the tube she stopped and took off the shoes she'd borrowed as they were killing her. I couldn't let her walk in her stocking feet so I told her to try mine and we could take turns with the 'killers'. She politely said no but gave in immediately when pressed. As I tried to squeeze into them I realised they were the very same shoes I'd given to Brenda a while back because... they killed me!

I didn't have the heart to force her back into them and knew I was stuck for the night hence my Lily Savage impersonation. This took me back to my youth when any pain was worth the look!

As she shivered I later gave her my fake fur collar and, as we made our way home at the end of the evening I had to laugh at this young girl struggling in my four inch (but comfortable for me) heels with a short dress and a fake fur around her shoulders. I was very relieved we didn't have to hang around Kings Cross too long before we got our train!

Oh, by the way, Brenda’s daughter is a notoriously fussy eater (even worse than me!) so when we got to the restaurant there was a strong possibility that I would be paying good money for food that would go straight in the bin. There was no way I was going to get into the, "you really should eat this or that routine” so I did a deal with her that she could order anything she wanted and if she ate it, I would pay for it. If she didn't then it was ‘on her’!

She ordered chips and a chocolate brownie, neither of which ended up in the bin. How unhealthy I can hear you gasp! Yes, well, it was her Christmas present wasn't it!

Finally – Stop press.

The first taster workshop is on in 3 weeks – be there or miss out!!

- Two snowmen standing in a field gazing into the distance...one of them suddenly said to the other, “can you smell carrots?”

- Keep smiling it drives ‘em mad!’

- and remember that  you are unique.

Until next time, with love and laughter.

Jessica.
